The New York Knicks fall to the Miami Heat 110-96. CP and JD go off on the Knicks’ performance and talk to the fans to get their takes.

The Knicks lost to the Miami Heat 110 to 96 on Wednesday night. It was another disappointing team display that has rapidly become the sad reality that is this season. CP and JD Sportstalk discussed the game and what’s likely to happen for the rest of the season. The guys answered multiple fan callers including some reoccurring fan favorites.

CP was disappointed with the team’s performance but admits that he expected this outcome, due to the Heat’s style of play and the recent history between the two teams. The starting line-up’s poor performance against a team that is currently multiple levels above the Knicks were big concerns for him. However, CP acknowledged that the team’s lack of effort and grit was not the sole reason for their loss. He also noted that the Heat have a superb defense.

One shining light for CP was that Quinten Grimes continued to play well. On top of that, CP claimed that Grimes has earned a spot in the starting line-up.  CP then goes on to state that Immanuel Quickley deserves a spot in the starting line-up and doesn’t care about the debate on whether he is a point guard or not.

JD chimed in and agreed that the starters are getting too many opportunities while still underperforming and that it may be time for a certain somebody to go. JD then mentioned how he enjoyed Jeff Van Gundy’s criticism of both the starters and even coach Thibodeau.

The surprise of the night was that Ron Cleveland made his return to the Post Game Show and was the first caller. He quickly noted that he agreed with Van Gundy as well because the team lacks heart. Ron also mentioned that he can’t understand how a professional sports team’s second unit can somehow be better than the starters. Ron would then single out Leon Rose, the Knicks’ President of Basketball Operations, because Ron believes Rose needs to make a trade before the trade deadline.

Ari from Manhattan made his return as the last caller of the night. He praised CP for speaking his own mind on the team rather than trying to justify what the front office is trying to achieve (Ari claims this is what the fans want). Ari would go on to thank the fans for supporting his view that it is time for Julius Randle to be traded, and for giving him what he feels is long overdue recognition. Ari then announces that this would be his last time calling in until the Knicks organization makes a change, whether that’s Thibs being fired or Randle being traded.
