The New York Knicks and Michelob ULTRA collaborated to design a beer can that supports the team and captures the New York City culture.
Michelob Ultra, the official beer sponsor of the NBA, released a statement detailing their new campaign that had four artists design limited edition cans for 18 NBA teams. The New York Knicks are one of the teams receiving a custom can.
Michelob Ultra believes that these special cans will allow the fans to support their teams in another way. They feel these beer cans will show subtle support for both the brand and the team while enjoying a beer.
Artist Sophia Chang designed the Knicks’ beer can. Sophia’s goal when designing the cans was to “capture the pride and joy” of the Knicks by exemplifying certain sayings and icons (this was the same thought process for the other cans she designed as well). So in her interpretation for the New York Knicks, that’s why the beer can has the blending of hoops and New York City culture — the Statue of Liberty, subway cars, taxis, catchphrases, and more.
Michelob Ultra released the cans on January 17th, 2022, at local shops that distribute alcohol and participating teams’ arenas.
