According to The Athletic, the New York Knicks are rumored to have interests in trading for Myles Turner or Jerami Grant.
Recent reports have linked the New York Knicks to two trade targets in the days leading up to the trade deadline. Shams Charania of The Athletic has reported that two names on the Knicks’ radar are the Detroit Pistons’ Jerami Grant and the Indiana Pacers’ Myles Turner.
Grant is a forward for the Pistons and will have no shortage of suitors when the trade deadline comes. He has averaged 20.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.6 assists this season in 24 games. He is shooting 41 percent from the field had has been shooting only 33 percent from three, a drop-off which is understandable when you account for the higher number of threes he is taking. Since the Pistons are currently rebuilding, Grant shouldn’t cost anything outrageous.Â
Myles Turner is a name that is seemingly always linked with the Knicks. He would be a great fit for what Tom Thibodeau wants from a big man, and he also adds outside scoring that the Knicks have lacked from that position. Turner is reportedly unhappy with his role in Indiana, so he may be available. He has averaged 12.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game this season.
Let’s also remember, the Knicks have had a problem with their big men staying healthy this season, be it in covid protocols or traditional injury absences. So Turner could solidify the position as his own if he can avoid both of these obstacles.
All of these trades could work for the Knicks. Also, if New York is still holding out for a blockbuster trade to help them make it farther than the first round of the playoffs, then the Knicks have enough assets to do so. But regardless, the Knicks have many areas to address to ensure this season is not a failure.Â
