The New York State Gaming Commission regulators have approved two betting groups, which include nine mobile sports betting operators.
The New York State Gaming Commission recently approved two sports betting groups to operate in the state. In these two groups, they include nine mobile sports betting vendors, such as:
- DraftKings
- FanDuel
- BetMGM
- Ceasers Sprotsbook
- WynnBet
- BallyBet
- Rush Street Interactive
- PointsBet
- Resorts World
Following this news, it was announced that BetMGM signed a deal with Madison Square Garden Sports Corporation and Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corporation. The deal made BetMGM the official sports betting partner of the New York Knicks, New York Rangers, and Madison Square Garden Arena.
BetMGM’s Chief Revenue Officer, Matt Prevost, had this to say about the deal: “New York is a critical state for BetMGM’s continued growth and I can’t think of a better way to begin our relationship with The Empire State than partnering with The World’s Most Famous Arena and their legendary team franchises.”
Now sports betting has been legal in some states outside of Nevada since 2018, one of which was New Jersey. During September, $1 billion worth of bets were placed in New Jersey, and this includes many New Yorkers crossing state lines to gamble.
The hope is that New York will have online betting available by February 2022 for the Super Bowl (ideally beforehand).
